John Edward Blaker- of Stamford passed away quietly on Monday, January 9, 2012. Born November 26, 1917 in Ansonia, CT to Frank and Rose Blaker, he was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy (Huntington), his sister Virginia Abelli, and his niece Linda Abelli.
John proudly served in World War II in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman 2nd Class, stationed in numerous international ports. After the war, he was employed as an electronics technician by several local radio/ television service companies including Max Trell Inc., J& L Service and John Bruno TV. An avid musician, he had learned to play the violin, entertained his fellow servicemen on mandolin during the war, and was 1st violinist with the Stamford Symphony Orchestra for many years. He also spent his spare time plinking out tunes on a home piano. His love of music was a lifelong gift he passed down to his son and daughter.
John is survived by his children, Douglas Blaker (wife Laureen) and Lois Ciccarelli (husband Gerard) , his granddaughter Angelia Ciccarelli, his sister Frances Blaker. His nephew and niece Mark Abelli (wife Cindy) and Cathy Schaffer (husband Bill), great-nephew Jeffrey and great-niece Jody.
The family of John E. Blaker will be receiving family and friends at the Bouton & Reynolds Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street Stamford, CT on Thursday January 12, from 10-11am and a service at 11:30am at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church of Stamford.
