Pat, Paul,Nick and all of their friends and family, I am so sorry to hear about John's passing! He was such a gentleman at family functions I attended with all of you over the years. Instantly likeable, a great sense of humor, obviously devoted to all of you. My sincerest sympathies.

John was a great guy. I was a member of the 1953 class with him. He would call me to be reminded of my gift each year to Union. We always had wonderful chats. I will miss him so very much. Del Wemple Cincinnatus N. Y.

Our thoughts remain with Pat and the family during this time of sorrow. In the days of our youth in Glens Falls, John had a gift for making friends and achieving his early goals in life. Being seven years his junior, I remember wanting to be like him when I reached his age. Every encounter I had with John in our youth, and later in adulthood, gave me a feeling of optimism about life and its possibilities. His memory will be a lasting source of encouragement for all who knew him.

As John was being laid to rest in North Stamford - the tragedy in Newtown, CT was unfolding just a few miles away...I can't help but think that God took the world's greatest grandfather to heaven to be the first to hug these children and take them under his wing.
