He was born July 8, 1928 in Glens Falls, N.Y. and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Union College in Schnectady, N.Y. and a Masters degree from New York University. He served as an MP in the United States Army and from there went on to a career in management with New York Telephone (now Verizon) as Director of Operations and Development. He also worked for Marriott International as the Director of Management Training, Development and Quality.
He was very active in his community and served as President of the Ct/Westchester chapter of the Association for Psychological Type.
He was the class of ‘53 fund raising chair for Union College and President of the Stamford Senior Center. He also served on the advisory board of the Southwest Connecticut Commission on Aging and gave freely of his time to many others.
He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his brother Roland, daughter Debbie and son-in-law Anthony Leva, son Jonathon and daughter-in-law Chrissie as well as stepsons Nicholas and Paul Verbitsky and daughters-in-law Leslie and Krisa respectively. He was also the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren who were one of the great loves of his life. He was the most wonderful and loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a dedicated leader and will be sorely missed by his grieving friends and family.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 3-7pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer St. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7pm.
