The son of Rocco and Guiesppina, he was born Sept. 23, 1947 in Gioiosa Ionica Reggio di Calabria Italy. Joe came to the United States in 1955, with his siblings Domenic, Frank and his father to meet up with the rest of the family.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Frank Agostino. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son David Agostino (Susan), daughters Darcey Trudeau (Chris) and Nancy Ackerson (Billy), as well as eight grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlin, Chloe, Anthony, Avery, Julianna, Joey and Ella. His brothers Vinny and Domenic Agostino, sisters Carmela Totino, Lisa Murace and Vera Casale. Vera was his perfect match bone marrow donor 32 years ago. He is also survived by Sister in law Nancy Ringey, her stepson Marty Ringey, Brother in law Joseph Pocograno and his wife Elaine Algarin.
A Stamford High graduate, Joe was a tireless worker from his teenage years on, whether it was as a short order cook at the old White Tower, as a one-man cleaning service in the 1970s and 80s, or as an astute and successful property owner in the latter half of his life. He served in the US Army, based in Germany from 1967 to 1973.
His passions were his garden, his cats and occasional trips to Mohegan Sun with his wife or son. But, above all, it was helping his children and grandchildren, who he loved to see succeed.
His constant sense of humor and always optimistic look at life will be forever missed by those who knew him best. Joe Agostino believed in the American Dream, because he lived the American Dream. And he would be the first to tell you about it.
