Judith "Judy" M. Cohen

Judy Cohen passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on June 8, 1942 to Benjamin and Sylvia Mullens. Judy grew up in Binghamton, NY and graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Syracuse University. She also received her Master’s degree in Speech from The New School and a Master’s degree in ESL from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Judy was the beloved wife of the late David S. Cohen, with whom she shared a life of over 50 years filled with love, family, and deep devotion. A long-time resident of Stamford, CT, she was an active member of Temple Sinai for over forty years. Judy will be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor, quick wit, and unwavering warmth she extended to all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her loving daughters, Rachel Beaumont and her husband Simon of Boca Raton, FL and Sarah Kass and her husband Lewis of Paramus, NJ. She will be deeply missed by her adoring grandsons, Andy Putterman of New York, NY and Bennett Kass of Paramus, NJ.

She also leaves behind her brother David Mullens and his wife Rinah of Palo Alto, CA; her sister-in-law Joan Mullens of Colorado Springs, CO; and her brother-in-law Joel Cohen and his wife Roswitha of Ober-Mörlen, Germany. Judy is also survived by her niece and four nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Benjamin and Sylvia Mullens, and her brother, Steven Mullens. She was also adored by her late standard poodles, Mazel, Leah, Challah, and Hannah.

Judy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brightview on New Canaan who lovingly cared for her over the past four years, especially Gehann Daniel. Their kindness, support, and compassion filled Judy’s days with comfort and love.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd at 10:30 am at Temple Sinai, 458 Lakeside Drive, Stamford, CT.
