
Karl Richard Theiss, a 56 year resident of New Canaan died peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Stamford Hospital. Born on August 13, 1923 in Salem Ohio, he was 87. Karl graduated from Yale University, Columbia University Midshipman’s School and was commissioned an ensign in the US Navy at the close of World War II. He witnessed the atomic bomb test at Bikini Atoll on March 7, 1946. He was the former President and founder of Associated Water Industries, Inc. He was a past President of the Stamford Rotary Club, a board member of the Salvation Army Stamford Corps and a long term parishioner and choir member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Semsel Theiss and his three sons Karl (Fritz) Theiss and his wife Louise of Stamford, Richard (Hans) Theiss and his wife Jennifer of Shelton and Peter Theiss of Norwalk. He is also survived by two grandchildren Anna and Alicia Theiss and one great grandchild Arianna Galarza.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan.
