OBITUARY

Katherine M. Hanson

June 21, 1953January 31, 2020

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Katherine (Kathy) M. Hanson on January 31, 2020 peacefully at NY Presbyterian Hospital. She was sixty-six years young and will be remembered by all as a sensitive, warm, gregarious, fun loving person who could lift up anyone’s spirit with a simple smile. Kathy was the real deal whether in her professional, personal or private life. What you saw is what you got. In any dictionary, next to the words genuine and caring would be a picture of a smiling Kathy. If any of her myriad of friends had a problem, she would go the extra mile to help.

But one could best see the twinkle in Kathy’s eyes when she was with her soul mate, Jim. She once confided in me that “Jim completes me” and everyone close to her knew that. Kathy’s love of family was no secret to anyone. Kathy adored her mother, Margaret, twin brother Ken and brother, Stephen, and their wives. She cherished her time with her many nieces and nephews and their children. Jim’s family became her family and she shared her love and life with them.

Kathy has left all of us too early and I am reminded of Sir Elton John’s words “Your candle's burned out long before Your legend ever will”. May she be reunited with her Dad, Lars, at the Lord’s table and may she rest in eternal peace.

I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Kathy. I met her while I was working at GE. She was such a warm and wonderful lady who was loved by all she came into contact with. One thing about Kathy was she always had a smile and could truly brighten your day.

Wishing her family, loved one's and friends peace and love during this sad time.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear this incredibly sad news. Kathy was such a bright star to all of us at GE, and I know she will be terribly missed in the non-profit community where she did so much for children. I will treasure the memories of working with Kathy over several years. I hope you and the family are finding strength, and Olga and I are sending prayers and our very best wishes. - William Adler, Delray Beach, Florida

Jim, I am so sorry to hear about Kathy’s passing. We worked together during the terrific years at GE Capital and she we always such a happy, quiet and peace-filled woman. I still can’t imagine a world without my beautiful Aunt Kathy in it. We had an incredible connection that was built through all our laughs, tears and adventures together in the 38 years I had her in my life. I will forever cherish that! Thank you sweet Aunt Kathy for showing me what it means to love life and family! I am honored to be your nephew. Heaven has no idea how lucky it is to have gained an amazing angel like you! I will forever love you, thank you and carry you with me each and every day of my life!
