Born in New Rochelle, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Jayne Livingston Hoffman (Brattstrom). She graduated from Greenwich High School and went on to Medical Technology School in New York City. She was a dedicated member of the Cardiology Department of Greenwich Hospital for over 50 years as a Medical Technician, retiring in 2025.
At an early age, she showed interest in music. She joined the Greenwich Celtic Society Pipes and Drums (now the Greenwich Pipe Band) where she played the snare drum and marched in countless parades, bringing joy to many. Katy loved her Yankees, was an avid gardener, and loved to cook and bake. Her favorite flower was the purple iris and she treated many to her famous scallops dish. She was also keen on sailing and very proud of her Scandinavian roots as a member of the Vasa Three Crown Lodge #38 of Stamford.
Most of all she was passionate about animals, in particular cats and horses. To this she dedicated her time and expertise, volunteering at the North Street AnimalControl in Greenwich and supporting two horse rescue sanctuaries, All Seated in a Barn and Moon Mountain Rescue.
She is survived by her sister, Jayne Hoffman Chen (Eric) and brother, James Brattstrom Hoffman (Pamela), nephews, James Theodore Hoffman (Ellen) who she lovingly called “Seamus”, Joshua Chen, Zachary Chen, cousins, Jayne Kellan and Laura Deighan (Hoffman) and a grandnephew and grandniece. She was predeceased by her parents James and Jayne Livingston Hoffman (Brattstrom), and cousins Ross Kellan, Kurt Kellan, and Theodore Hoffman.
A celebration of her life will be held September 19th at 2pm at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, 200 Riverside Ave., Riverside, CT. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following horse rescue centers: All Seated in a Barn, 1925 Nute St., Bakersfield, CA 93312 or Moon Mountain Sanctuary and Rescue, PO Box 786, Mena, AR 71953. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) non-profits.
