It is with heartfelt remembrance that we celebrate the life of Kenneth George Panton, born in the parish of Saint Ann’s in Jamaica, West Indies, on October 15, 1933. He was the beloved son of Edith Brown and the elder of two children, whose early years were spent in Saint Ann’s before relocating to Kingston in 1944, where he spent his formative and teenage years.
Kenneth’s journey took him from the shores of Jamaica, where he worked as a fisherman, to a distinguished career with the Jamaica Public Service (JPS). His dedication and hard work led him to serve JPS for 15 years, where he advanced to a supervisory role. He attended Kingston Technical High School and later pursued higher education at Norwalk Community College (formerly Norwalk State Technical College) after migrating.
In search of new opportunities, Kenneth immigrated to the United States, initially doing various odd jobs before joining General Electric. He later worked with Local Onion #3 in Tarrytown, New York, and ultimately dedicated his career to the City of Stamford, from which he retired.
Kenneth was married to Arona R. Panton, who preceded him in death in March 2013. He is also predeceased by his beloved daughter Mellissa Panton, who passed in 1985. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Courtney Panton, Cheryl Panton, Dwight Panton, and Ian Panton. 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren survive him.
Kenneth George Panton’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. His legacy will continue through the lives of those he touched. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Rest in peace, Kenneth.
