Born in Port Chester, New York, she was the daughter of Rose and Charles Garr. Linda was a graduate of Port Chester High School, where she made several lifelong friends who became more like family.
Linda was a generous, caring, and incredibly strong woman who always put others before herself. She had a kind heart, a warm smile, and a way of making those around her feel welcome and cared for. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Linda most recently resided at Spring Village at Stratford Assisted Living, where she was known for her beautiful smile, kind demeanor, and willingness to help others. On sunny days, she could often be found sitting beneath her favorite tree, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine. Linda also loved spending time with family and friends, going on shopping trips, and cheering on the New York Yankees. Above all else, her greatest joy was her grandsons, Kenny and Kyle. Just the mention of their names would bring a smile to her face.
Linda is survived by her son, Kevin Gonzalez; her daughter, Victoria Downer; her son-in-law, Kenneth Downer; and her grandsons, Kenny and Kyle Downer. She was predeceased by her husband, James Gonzalez; her parents, Rose and Charles Garr; her brother, Chuck Garr; and her daughter-in-law, Maria Gonzalez.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Saint Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
