Born on November 20, 1931, the son of Michael and Rose Buzzeo, Larry was raised in the Bronx, New York, where he developed an early appreciation and talent for music, becoming an accomplished violinist by the age of 18. Following his high school graduation, he continued his education at City College while working part-time to help support his family.
At the age of 23, Larry answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He proudly served for four years before receiving his honorable discharge in September 1959.
In 1960, Larry met the love of his life, Madeleine Botton. The two were married on August 19, 1961, and made their home in Stamford, Connecticut, where they built a loving family and shared 54 years of marriage until Madeleine's passing on August 10, 2016.
Larry devoted much of his professional life to education, teaching mathematics at Greenwich High School. His passion for teaching continued well beyond his retirement, as he went on to teach mathematics part-time at Norwalk Community College, sharing his knowledge and experience with another generation of students.
Larry's commitment to his faith led him to pursue a calling to the permanent diaconate. In 1992, he was ordained a deacon in the Roman Catholic Church and served the parish community of St. Gabriel's. His ministry reflected an important chapter in a life devoted to education, faith, family, and service to others.
Above all, Larry was a kind, loving, and devoted family man. Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, he brought laughter and warmth to those around him. Family was always his greatest priority, and his love was expressed through his unwavering support, encouragement, and dedication to those he held dear. He was a constant source of strength for his family, offering his time, wisdom, and unconditional love throughout their lives.
Larry is survived by his son, Joseph Buzzeo, and his daughter-in-law, Sharon Hein-Buzzeo; his daughter, Theresa Broughton; his beloved grandchildren, Paul and David Broughton and Madeleine Buzzeo; and his sisters, Frances Buzzeo and Lucille Bellwood. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Madeleine, and his son, Michael Joseph Buzzeo.
Larry will be remembered not only for his accomplishments as an educator, musician, veteran, and deacon, but most importantly for the kindness of his heart, his gentle humor, and the unconditional love he gave his family. His legacy of faith, compassion, and devotion will live on in all those whose lives he touched.
