

Lucille Brooks a longtime, resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on Friday July 26, 2013 after a long illness.Lucille Brooks, affectionately called Brooksie and Lucille, was the 1st of 4 children; born 1932 to Edwin Kelly and Rohema Derby (Nee Johnson) in St. Dacre St. Ann’s, Jamaica. She attended the St. Dacre Primary School. After leaving school at the age of 16 she moved to Kingston, where she met her late husband Pernell Brooks, they both fell in love and were married there after in 1957. During the marriage of 55 years their 5 children were born, Valerie, Elaine, Denese, Barrington and Colleen. In 1962, she migrated to England to join her husband, who migrated there a few years earlier. England was a happy experience for her and family. They purchased a home and she was fully employed, the family flourished. During her stay there, she gave her life to the lord and was baptized in the New Testimony Church of God. In 1985, she packed her belongings and moved to the United States with her husband and little Colleen. In short order Valerie, Elaine, Denese and Barrington joined them. In Stamford, where she resided since coming to the States. She was known throughout the West Indian Community; she was a church member of the Greater Works Community Church of God, where she was actively engaged.
She was always willing to give a helping hand when needed and her house and pot were always opened to all. Her home on Clinton Ave was a venue for various gatherings and celebrations attended by majority of the West Indian in the area. On 2006, Mrs. Brooks became ill and was confined to bed; she was cared for by her family at home until July 26, 2013 when she passed. She is survived by son Barrington Brooks, daughters Valerie Patterson, Denese Brooks, Elaine Brooks and Colleen Brooks, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grand children, sisters Racheal Derby, Eleacaie Derby and Leanora Derby, nieces, nephews, other relatives and lots of friends. Mrs. Brooks, Brooksie, Lucille is sadly missed by the entire community.
