

Madeleine Marie Christine (Botton) Buzzeo, a long-time resident of Stamford, Connecticut passed away on Wednesday, August 10th. She was born October 25, 1931 in Clichy-sous-Bois, an eastern suburb of Paris, France. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Eugene Botton and Josephine Marie Julie (DuVernay) Botton. She grew up in Grandris, a small town in eastern France.
At age eighteen Madeleine and her brother, the late Monsignor Pierre Botton, and her grandmother Theresa Botton came to the United States where they were reunited with her Father after World War 2. Madeleine completed her undergrad degree at Albertus Magnus College and her masters degree at Fordham University. In 1960 she met the love of her life Larry Buzzeo. They were married on August 19, 1961 and resided in Stamford. She is survived by her husband Larry and two children Joseph Buzzeo and Theresa Broughton along with her grandchildren Paul and David Broughton and Madeleine Arlene Buzzeo. She was predeceased by her first son Michael Joseph Buzzeo.
Madeleine was a French teacher at the University of Connecticut Stamford Branch. She was an active supporter of Birthright. Madeleine enjoyed traveling, knitting for hospitalized children and was a superb cook. She enjoyed the company of her Grandchildren and spent as much time as she could with them. She was an active member of Saint Gabriel’s Church where she sang in the choir and was the DRE for several years.
Friends may call at the Gallagher funeral home 2900 Summer Street Stamford, CT on Friday August 12th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mass of a Christian burial will take place at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church Stamford, CT on Saturday morning August 13th 10 a.m. after which she will be laid to rest at Fairfield Memorial Park. Donations in Madeleine’s memory may be made to Birthright of Stamford.
