On September 13, 2012, Marcus Dixon McInerney returned home to God. His parents, Barry and Rosemary McInerney, who are so proud of the man he had become, will forever remember Marcus. The magic of Marcus will never be forgotten by his devoted sisters, Erin, Lauren and Kelly. He cherished his brothers, Anthony and Robert (Tito) Dixon, who will never forget their Marcus. Marcus embraced his future brother-in-laws, Jason Lacerna and Anthony Conti, with the same boundless love. Victoria Edwards was the love of his life. Her affection and kindness supported his dreams and encouraged his ambitions. Marcus is survived by Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins throughout the U.S. and Canada. To the many friends at Stamford High School and West Point Academy, Marcus was a light. The community will miss its celebrated running back who loved his coaches and teammates with a passion that attracted the attention of West Point Military Academy. Marcus played Army Football, but continued to embrace his love for Stamford High, its teachers and its students. We will miss the joy, love and passion that Marcus infused in everything and anyone he met. We love you Marcus, and thank you for sharing yourself so freely and fully. You will continue to live in our hearts and the memories we cherish, forever. A wake will be held on Sunday, September 16, from 4-9 pm at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 17 at Holy Spirit Church, 403 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford, CT at 10:30am.
