Maria Fernandez

Maria Fernandez, age 86 passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012. She was born in la Vega, Dominican Republic on February 21, 1926. She Married her husband, Rufino Fernandez on August 29 , 1964. Maria went to elementary school, she was an active member in the community and also member at the Church Nuestra Senora de la Merced in la Vega Dominican Republic. Family and friends were Maria’s passion and delight. She grew up spending time in her house with her parents helping with the activities in the farm. She enjoy to travel, she went different times to Dominican Republic for vacation and also visited Washington DC but the best time that she spend was being around of a lot of childrens. She was predeceased by her parents Jose Valdez Leonardo and Olinda de Valdez Castillo also her brothers and sisters, Maria Valdez, Teodora Valdez, Dario Valdez, Juan Valdez, Elpidio Valdez, Santiago Valdez and Juana Valdez who was like her sister. She is survived by her husband Rufino Fernandez, her brothers, Oscar Valdez, Salvador Valdez, Guido Valdez, and her son Carlos Valdez. Her son carlos states" The best moments in my life as her son were to be with her every day, see her smile and to be active all the time at home. She also enjoyed spending time in la Vega Dominican Republic and be with people that we enjoy together and my father too."

Visitation will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 5-9 pm at The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer St Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9 a.m on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St Mary Church 566 Elm Street Stamford, Ct. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
