Beloved wife of 53 years to the late William J. Maloney, Marie was a lifelong Stamford resident. Born October 26, 1935, Marie was the daughter of the late Marie Viggiano Agostino.
Marie was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1953, after which, she held positions at the Ferguson Library and Merrill Lynch Corporation before joining Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in the Development and later Executive offices from 1978 through her retirement in 1995.
In 1956, Marie married William J. Maloney, and the two shared a wonderful life, completely devoted to each other and their family.
Marie was the most amazing wife, mother and grandmother sharing special relationships with each of her children and grandchildren. She was always their biggest fan, greatest cheerleader, dedicated confidant and dearest friend. Being with her family was her greatest happiness.
Marie was a beautiful, kind and generous person who always handled herself with grace and elegance. Her tireless work ethic, exceptional character and integrity never wavered; she always did the right thing regardless of the circumstance. Her genuine heart was welcoming to everyone, and if someone was important to her family, they were important to her. Marie was a very rare and very special person, loved and admired by all that knew her.
Marie is survived by four children; sons William III and James Maloney, daughters Kristina Maloney, Lisa (Maloney) Solecki and her husband Michael; five grandchildren, Jenna and Robert Solecki of New York City, Megan DeGuisto of Columbia, SC, Ryan and Joelle Solecki of Glastonbury, CT. Marie is also survived by a brother, Richard Agostino (Pat) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and mother, Marie is predeceased by brothers Dominick Agostino (Ruth), Frank Agostino (Margaret) and sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Coughlin (John).
Relatives and friends will be received at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Calling hours will be 4-8pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. A Christian mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Mausoleum, Putnam – St. Mary Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT.
