

Mark David Ogonek, 54, most recently of East Hampton, CT passed away peacefully on April 2, 2017 with family by his side. He was born in Stamford, CT on July 18, 1962 to Theodore E. and Anastasia Daniluk Ogonek.
Mark was a 1980 graduate of Rippowan High School in Stamford, and a 1982 graduate of Porter and Chester Institute, with a technical degree in architectural and civil drafting and design. In 2002, Mark passed the written and physical Stamford firefighter exams.
Mark loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing and fishing. He was a member of the Connecticut Forest and Parks Association, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Antique Equipment and Machinery Association and East Hampton Lions Club.
Mark was a talented gardener, creating gorgeous flower and vegetable gardens. He was an experienced beekeeper and tree farm operator.
Mark was employed as a property manager at Lakeside Ferns, a vacation rental home property located on Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton, CT. He also previously worked at the Johnson Glass House in New Canaan and spent 12 years as an estate caretaker at Star Meadow Farm in Stamford, a 100 acre estate property and tree farm of the late Mary and Gene Tunney, former champion heavy weight boxer.
Mark shared a passion for muscle cars and automobilia with his brother Ted. They enjoyed attending car shows together, as well as, picking, collecting and selling car parts for 1960s Chevrolet cars.
Mark will always be loved and missed by his family; parents, Anastasia and Theodore E. Ogonek, brother, Theodore S. Ogonek and his fiancé Maria D. Camomilli and her son, Paul J. Camomilli, cousins, Valerie Taylor, Jeanne Plander, her husband Ed Plander and many great friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at both Yale New Haven Hospital Neurology, and Regional Hospice, Danbury, for their care, compassion and dedication to Mark.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017, 10:00 am, at Holy Spirt Catholic Church, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford. Burial will occur at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main Street, New Canaan, CT.
