Mary T. Matsuda – was born Mary T. Kawata 2/15/23 in San Francisco, CA. She passed away peacefully 10/19/16 in the Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. In WWII she was put to an internment camp in Topaz, UT where she met her husband, Ken who passed 5/12/94. They moved to Stamford over 60 years ago when he took a job with American Cyanamid now Cytec. In the 60’s, Mary volunteered at the YWCA and Stamford Hospital where she assisted in getting the nurses’ training program put in place. In the 70’s she was a secretary at Olin Corp when they were on Long Ridge Rd in Stamford. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Women’s Club, Senior Center, and AARP. As well as caring for her children, she took care of her husband’s parents, her husband, and her mother. She always put others before herself. Mary is survived by her two sons Frank of Stamford and Tom (Ikuko) of Leverett, MA, as well as grandsons. Donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church. A memorial will be held at the First Presbyterian Church 1101 Bedford St. Stamford. Nov. 13th 1:30PM in the sanctuary.
