

MATTIE MAE ELLIS was a resident of Stamford, Connecticut for 49 years. Mrs. Ellis (Mother Ellis affectionately called) was born April 21, 1932 to the late Robert Fail and Carrie Randolph of Broxton, Georgia. She departed this earth on April 29, 2015 at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home in Greenwich, Connecticut where she lived until the Lord called her home.
In 1947 Mattie married her childhood sweet heart, the late Jurell Ellis. Mattie moved to Stamford, CT in 1966 to embark on a new journey of life. Mrs. Ellis worked faithfully in the domestic care industry for five years before taking ill. Mattie accomplished everything she set her heart out to do. Mattie’s greatest hobby and pastime event was fishing. Sunrise and Sunset would catch her enjoying the cool breeze and excitement of fishing. Mattie accepted Jesus Christ in her later years. She worshiped with Ebenezer Ministries under A.Ralph Johnson. She joined Rose of Sharon Ministries in 2002 and was appointed church Mother in 2003 under Apostle Elizabeth Dukes. Mother Ellis was a faithful member and loved to attend bible study; she was especially fond of all of the young people in the ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter Gwendolyn E. Grimes, of Bridgeport, CT; Two sons: Jurell Ellis Jr. (Rochester, NY), Connell Ellis (York, PA); Mattie was preceded in death by son Vernon Ellis; Seven grandchildren Walter Leroy Grimes (Germany), Tremaine Jordan McGregor (GA), Michelle Victoria Fountain (LA), Jurrel Suttles (GA), Leonard Alonzo Reynolds (FL), Mi-Ina K. Ogden (PA), Kartina M. Ellis (GA); Twelve Great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, caregivers, and three special church friends (Evangelist James Ashford, Thelma McRae, and Deacon Jean Flood).
At her request, the calling and committal will be held in Stamford, Connecticut May 9, 2015 at The Gallagher Funeral Home located at 2900 Summer Street Stamford, CT 06905 from 10am to 1pm.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support through this time of grievance.
