Molly Elizabeth Gjodesen, née Peterson, age 49, of South Salem, New York, unexpectedly passed away on November 5, 2025. Born on April 3, 1976, in Mount Kisco, NY, Molly spent her life rooted in the community she loved so deeply.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth Mazza and John Peterson (Port Chester, NY), and cherished sister of Tyler Peterson (S. Salem NY). Molly is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Gjodesen, and their son, Benjamin, the light of her life.
For nearly twenty years, Molly dedicated herself to the children and families of The Children’s School, where her presence shaped countless young lives. Known for her gentle spirit and unwavering empathy, she had a profound gift for making every child feel seen, safe, and valued. Her compassion extended to everyone she encountered, always choosing to see the best in people and bringing warmth even to difficult moments.
Molly’s life centered on the people and beings she loved most—her family, the animals she cared for, and the time they spent adventuring together. She, Dan, and Ben were a strong and deeply connected family, happiest when exploring new places, taking trips together, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Molly had a lifelong love of animals, especially horses, and found joy and comfort in being around them. These passions shaped her world and brought her tremendous happiness.
Molly’s legacy is one of kindness, patience, and quiet strength. Her ability to offer comfort simply by being present will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
