A Stamford resident for thirty-five years, Muriel was born November 3 1931, the daughter of Louis Jacobson & Marion Boone Jacobson of Bridgeport and Monroe, Connecticut. She graduated from Westover School, Middlebury, Connecticut, class of 1949, and attended Leland Powers School of Radio, Theater & Television in Boston.
Muriel was a light of beauty, style and grace; greatly admired for her kindness, her warm, reassuring voice and infectious laugh, she was quite simply, the beacon of her family. Devoted to her husband Stanley; theirs was a partnership of deep communication, adoration and love for one another.
Muriel was an extraordinary parent and grandparent - she presided over wonderful holiday meals, and never missed any vocal, theater or ballet performance of her three granddaughters or sending a card to those she loved. Always impeccably dressed, she adored floral arrangements, gardens, theater, ballet and great meals with her family and friends. Nicknamed "Babe" by three loving brothers, Muriel inspired devotion among those who knew her.
She was predeceased by her first husband Robert Cohen in 1972, and her brothers Stuart Jacobson of Fairfield, Connecticut, Howard Jacobson of Westport, Connecticut and Judge Burton Jacobson of Fairfield, Connecticut.
Muriel is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Judge Stanley Novack, her children, Stephen A. Cohen of Stamford and Jane Cohen DeHaven of Natick, Massachusetts, as well as their spouses Lynn Villency Cohen and David DeHaven Jr. She leaves behind her three grandchildren, Rachel Cohen, Rebecca DeHaven and Caroline DeHaven.
Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth El, Stamford on Wednesday July, 23 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Muriel's memory may be made to the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital.
