Nicholas P. Stamatelos

Nicholas Peter Stamatelos, born on July 15, 1957 in Stamford, CT and left us on Sunday, May 24, 2026, he was 68 years old. Nick was the beloved son of Madina Stamatelos and the late Peter N. Stamatelos. He was the brother to two sisters, Mary Kokkoris and Deborah Matsis, beloved uncle to Peter Kokkoris (Jennifer), Christina Varvatsis (Mario), Andrew Matsis, and Sophia Attanasio (Timothy). He was also great uncle to Steven, Alexander and Emilia Varvatsis, Brayden and Chloe Kokkoris along with Aunts and Cousins.

Nick was born and raised in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School in 1975. After graduation he went to pursue his passion to become a Pharmacist after working in the Stamford Hospital pharmacy part time while attending high school. He went to Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama and graduated in 1980, along with being a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. While attending Auburn University, Nick played rugby and was an avid skateboarder.He was also a co-administrator for “The Largest New York Jets Facebook Group” for many years. Nick was a season ticket holder for the Jets since 1983 and never missed a game. His other favorites were The Mets, The Rangers and the Knicks. Nick’s favorite band was “The Who” and anyone else in concert. He saw every major rock band at least 3 times over the years as well. His career started at SylMay Drug Store on Summer St., then to Caldor’s until its closing. Then on to Walgreen’s and other pharmacies in the New York area, his most recent and favorite being Excel Pharmacy in Bronx, NY. Nick had many lifelong close friends who he treasured along with the family dog, Lola Kokkoris, who he made a Facebook page for. Always a gentle soul and generous when it came to his family and friends, as well as those he served in the pharmacies he worked for anyone in need; always giving his many electronic items i.e. computers, televisions etc. to someone he worked with who was in need. He took pride in his home and never caused anguish to anyone. His biggest joy was his family. The family wishes to thank all of those who have taken care of Nick at Stamford Hospital/Stamford Health over the last few years, Dr. G. Donofrio, Dr. S. Druvakumar, Dr. M. Coady, Dr. Vernetta Gallop, Dr. P. Siroka, Dr. M. Goldstein and Dr. R. Rosen, along with the INR Department, all nursing staff and clinical staff.

A graveside service will be held with Fr. Joseph from Church of the Archangels officiating at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford, CT, on Saturday, June 6 at 10:00 am with traditional Greek repass at Trips' Restaurant following service.
