

Paul Markovits, 71, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on February 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Budapest, Hungary on April 17, 1943 to Anna and Paul Markovits and came to the US with them in 1957. They settled in Port Jefferson, Long Island and he graduated from Port Jefferson High School. He volunteered for the US Army and was proud to be a decorated veteran. He graduated from Pace University (formerly Pace College) in 1972.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, mentor and friend. He married Grace Fountaine on July 8, 1967 and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Besides his wife Grace, he is survived by his three daughters, Christine Markovits-Feenan (Brian) of Danbury, CT, Linda Camposano (David) of Brookfield, CT and Diane Falls (Jason) of Mount Holly, NC and six beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Drew, Ronan, Bradley, Luke and Sydney. Of all the titles he held throughout his life, his most cherished was “Papa.” He adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them! He is also survived by a cousin on Long Island and a cousin in Budapest.
Paul had a 21 year career with Avon Products, Inc. where he held executive positions with increasing responsibilities including Group Vice President of International and President of US Direct Selling. Through his strong leadership, he fostered an environment of innovation and excellence. Later he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Victoria Creations, Inc., a fashion jewelry company carrying designer jewelry lines. He was also a successful entrepreneur as a partner in the Natural Nutrition Shoppe in Stamford, CT.
He was a generous man with a very strong faith, an unbelievable work ethic and a compassionate and sensitive heart. His love of running led him to compete in two New York City marathons. His passion for Southwest Indian pottery was evident to all who knew him.
The family welcomes friends and relatives to call on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Rd. Stamford, CT at 10:30am. Burial will be private.
