Peter Charles Cernansky, 18, of Stamford, CT, died of an injury sustained in an accident on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Burlington, VT. Peter had just begun his freshman year as a Business major at Champlain College, where he was awarded a Trustees Scholarship. Born on March 11, 1994 in Stamford, Peter attended Westover Elementary, Cloonan Middle, and Westhill High Schools. He was the cherished son of Charles J. Cernansky and Sharon L. Burley. Peter was active in sports throughout his life and enjoyed the camaraderie of his team and classmates. He had an incredible smile, beautiful blue eyes, a joy for life and an ability to make others around him happy. He loved to surf and always appreciated the beauty surrounding him.
In addition to his parents, Peter is survived by his grandparents, Richard and Carol Burley of Muncy, PA, his aunts Marion Cernansky of Arlington, VA, Susan Savard and her husband Robert of Manchester, VT and Lecanto, FL, his uncle, Donald Cernansky of Hoffman Estates, IL, his cousins, Christina Cernansky of Washington, DC, Kyle Dailey of Boston, MA and Collin Dailey of Burlington, VT. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Elinor Burley, of Muncy, PA, Charles and Irene Cernansky of Lakewood, OH and his aunt, Eileen Mortenson of Kaneohe, HI.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. A funeral service will be held at Holy Spirit Church, 403 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford, CT at 10:30 am on Thursday, September 6 with interment at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, Esrkine Rd, Stamford, CT. A reception will follow at the Italian Center, Newfield Rd., Stamford, CT.
