

Mihaleas, Peter, age 91, of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Regency Heights in Stamford, CT. He was born in New York City, NY on June 5, 1924, to the late Spiro and Helen Mihaleas. Peter was raised in Greece but returned to the States and moved to Stamford after marrying his beloved wife, Nina Condos, who predeceased him in 1989. He was the owner of the Springdale Diner and later lent his considerable culinary skills to multiple eateries in and around Stamford. He was affectionately known as either Pete “The Greek” or “Chef” and was famous for his amazing rice pudding. The only thing Peter loved more than grabbing a coffee and catching up with his cronies was spending time with his grandchildren and watching his son, Perry’s, softball games. Peter is survived by his loving children, Perry Mihaleas and his wife, Kim, of Stamford and Helen Santoro and her husband, Scott, also of Stamford, and his six grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Rachel, Michael, Robert and Joseph. He is also survived by his sister, Andonia Madonis of Queens, NY and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, January 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at the Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery at 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peter’s memory to the Ladies Philoptochos Society of the Church of the Archangels or to the Church of the Archangels.
