

Ralph Pausig, fondly known by many as “Mr. P” was truly an amazing man in every sense of the word. He touched the hearts of all who knew him with his humble, caring, generous, kind, appreciative, loving and positive approach to life that influenced everyone around him. A great man with a passion for life and devotion to his family, Ralph was a person who continually put the needs of others before his own.
The son of Anna and Gustave Pausig, he was born September 26th, 1934 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where he grew up and attended Oshkosh High School before moving on to the University of Southern California (USC). He played basketball at USC and his team went to the Final Four in the 1953-1954 season and no other team from USC has been to the Final Four since he graduated from USC. After that he played baseball as a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers Farm Team in the Minor League and participated in the baseball College World Series. After a few years in the Minor League he decided to give up baseball and go into business.
He first worked at Continental Can Company, then The Hartford Insurance Company and finally ITT Corporation where he worked for over 20 years, first as Director of Human Resources and quickly worked his way up to Senior Vice President of Human Resources before retiring in 1998.
A devout Christian, Ralph enjoyed attending church with his wife Lorna at the First United Methodist Church in Stamford. Fishing was also a great passion of Ralph’s. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed many fishing trips to Alaska, Canada and Maine with family and friends. He also enjoyed travelling the world with his wife Lorna that included attending the Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in 2000 and Athens, Greece in 2004 as well as many international tennis tournaments all over the world.
Cruising the world’s oceans was another great passion for Ralph who travelled on many Regent cruises to international destinations over the years.
Sports was a major part of Ralph’s life as he was a loyal Yankees baseball fan, Giants football fan and men’s and women’s professional tennis fan.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Marcia, mother of his children, sons Perry Pausig and Paul Pausig and his sister in law Doreen Pommills. He is survived by his wife Lorna, daughter Lori Kastner & husband Jeff of Marlborough, CT, stepson Nathan McKeithan & wife Jennifer of Plymouth, MA, sister Pamela Youngwirth of Oshkosh, WI, grandchildren Kelly Hastings & husband Neil, Karen Pausig, Kenny Pausig, Katherine Pausig, Daniel Pausig, Waanutam & Ayanee McKeithan, great grandchildren Hunter & Riley Hastings, mothers of his son’s children, Janet Pausig and Debra Pausig, nephew Mike Youngwirth & wife Kathy, niece Barbara Wussow & husband Mike, grand nephew and niece Anthony & Hannah Wussow, brothers in law Anthony Pommills & wife Karen of Shelton, Leroy Pommills & wife Rhonda of Bridgeport, Stephen E. Pommills & wife Carmen of Torrington, Derrick V. Pommills & wife Vonda of Hamden,
To know Ralph “Mr. P” was to love him and you were truly blessed if you had the honor to know this great man. A great man does not seek applause; he seeks the truth and the road to happiness, and what he learns along the way he gives to others.
Lorna would like to acknowledge and give thanks to all the special friends and relatives who helped her with Ralph over the years with particular mention to her brothers and their wives, friends Lora, Joye and Rohan and the First United Methodist Church family.
