Born in New York, New York, Rebecca was the daughter of Hyman and Gussie (Ackerman) Teller. In her youth, she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and later worked as a medical records librarian for the State of Connecticut. She witnessed the explosion of the Hindenburg disaster in 1937, and was in Times Square when World War II ended. She moved to Washington DC during WW II and worked in the Pentagon for the war effort.
Rebecca was a member of Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford, CT. She enjoyed reading, canasta and mahjong. She will be remembered for her capacity to love, and her bigger than life presence.
Rebecca is survived by her sons Barry (Kathy), Randy (Beth), grandchildren Gregory and Brian Schacht, Stacey Higgins and Meloney Schacht. Great grandson Michael Higgins and her adopted grandchildren, Heather and Michael Del Sole. She was predeceased by her husband Myron (Mike), son Hyman and daughter in law Catherine, brothers Philip, Abraham and Sigmund Teller.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 11am at Agudath Sholom Cemetery, 550 West Hill Road, Stamford, CT.
Shiva will be observed on Sunday October 26th at the home of Barry and Kathy, 25 Hamden Hills Dr., Unit 65, Hamden, CT 06518.
