
She was born in Manhattan, NY, to Dora and Benny Halpern on February 19, 1940 and raised in Brighton Beach, NY. She attended Brooklyn College, graduating with a teaching degree, then continued on to obtain her masters degree in education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught at Greenwich Country Day School for most of her career.
Rhoda had many interests and hobbies. She loved spending time with her friends playing canasta, taking hikes, and meeting with her book club. Other favorite activities of hers were painting, going to the beach and pool, and traveling with her family and friends.
She and Sheldon regularly brought the family together by welcoming them to their home for large gatherings. It gave Rhoda great pleasure to see her house filled with joy and laughter as her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins celebrated holidays and special occasions with each other.
Rhoda is survived by her children Joe (Susan), Susan (Larry) Foster, and Karen (Barry) Shapiro; her grandchildren Adina, Alex (Emily), and Ariana Pearlman, Kelsey and Lindsey Foster, and Samantha and Michael Shapiro, as well as her great-grandchildren Benjamin and Yehuda. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband Sheldon Pearlman.
