He was born on May 27, 1921 in Stamford to the late Paul A. and Ellen Shaver Vezina. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Pyrma Darrah Vezina and his sister, Helen V. Moore.
Known to family and friends as Dick, he graduated from Stamford High School in 1939 and later attended business school. Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving during WWII.
Following his military service, Dick met and married Pyrma, the love of his life. They settled in Stamford where they were active in the community and raised their family.
Dick volunteered his time and energy to the Jaycees, The Order of the Amaranth, the North Stamford Exchange Club and St. John’s Parish, where he served as both Warden and Senior Warden. He was also proud to be a 69-year Freemason.
He spent most of his career in the securities industry, retiring as an Investment Advisor with Merrill Lynch in 1986.
Dick was a devoted son and Dad, who loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing golf, vacationing with friends and always had room for dessert. He was a gregarious and gracious man who endeared himself to all.
He is survived by his daughter, Ellen V. Kapusta, (Richard) of Stamford, his son, Richard Vezina of Greenwich, and five grandchildren, including Beth K.
Welsh, Richard E. Kapusta, Jr., (Mary) and Andrew P. Kapusta, (Taylor), and five great grandchildren, Sean and Maeve Welsh, Luke, Rae, and Evie Kapusta.
A memorial celebrating Dick’s life will be held in August.
