

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Robert Andrew Martinik, Sr. passed away peacefully at the age of 95. A devoted husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. Born on May 10, 1930, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Andrew and Adelaide (Buttree) Martinik. Bob was a lifelong resident of Stamford and a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1948. He married his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Stewart on December 10, 1950. Together, they built a warm and vibrant home and raised five devoted children.
Bob is survived by his children: Robert Jr. (Sylvia), Jeffrey (Mary), Tracey Kersteen (Doug), Kevin (Terri) and Kim Scala (John); eight grandchildren Christina Carestia (Bryan), Michelle Shoop (Corey), Andrew Martinik, John Scala (Mila), Barbara Jean Andrews (Steve), Lauren Ryan (Jessie), Mark Kersteen (Paula), and Taylor Kersteen(Catherine); and seven great-grandchildren. He found great joy in watching baseball games and was a lifelong Yankees fan. In his later years, he treasured many trips to spring training in Florida with his boys.
Bob’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family—especially celebrating holidays. Many family gatherings took place at Pellicci’s Restaurant, where a table bears his name in his honor. He was a founding member of the Glenbrook Athletic Club (GAC), a dedicated golfer and co-owner of Robert A. Martinik & Son Painting Company with his son Kevin.
He lived a rich and meaningful life, filled with hard work, laughter and love. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Stewart Martinik (1930–2016), and his brother Richard Martinik and his wife Mona. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Calling hours will take place at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home located at 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4 - 8 pm. Prayer service will take place at 7:45 pm. Interment will take place at Fairfield Memorial Park located at 230 Oaklawn Ave, Stamford, CT on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11 am.
