
She was born Feb. 20, 1926, in New York City to Max and Anna Goldberger. She graduated from Hunter College in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology. She married John Goldman in 1946 and worked for the city’s welfare department until 1951. She and her husband lived in Detroit from 1951 to 1958. They then moved to Riverhead, N.Y., where they lived until the mid-1980s. While living in Riverhead Mrs. Goldman taught nursery school and college courses. She also did volunteer work for the public library and the League of Women Voters.
She lived in Hoboken, N.J., for the following 10 years before splitting her time between Stamford and North Miami Beach, Fla., for the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Goldman was a voracious reader, who loved telling and collecting information about her family, solving puzzles and speaking with people from all walks of life, especially children.
She was predeceased by her husband, her daughter Susan Brandes, her brother Joseph Gould and her sister Florence Hunsberger.
She is survived by her sons Robert and David and her sister Harriet Anderson.
She is also survived by her nephews and nieces; Richard and Patricia Lubow, Mindy and Nat Kusher, Bill Anderson, Andrew and Judith Gould, and Yale Gould; her son-in-law Leland Brandes; grandsons Derek Brandes and Stefan Brandes; granddaughters Dana Dillon, Sharron Dillon, DeAnn Brandes, Shauna Brandes; grandnephews and grandnieces Maureen Lubow, Audra Kusher, Aaron Kusher, Michaela Anderson, David Gould and Eleanor Gould; great-grandsons Jacob Brandes, Evan Brandes and William Stonier; great-granddaughters Kaci Stonier and Kayla Brandes; great-great-grandaughters Kaylee Brandes, Aubrie-Sage Stonier and great-great-grandson Zachariah Cash.
