
Ruth Stashenko Stosuy was born in Stamford on August 22, 1929, to Daniel and Katherine Kulik Stashenko. She was married to Anthony Stosuy of Seymour on September 2, 1951, up until his death in 1983. Ruth is survived by her two daughters Kathleen and Patricia; her granddaughter Danielle; and two sisters in law Sophie Potter of Stratford and Adrienne Stosuy of Oxford. She was predeceased by her two brothers Joseph and Michael; and by fiancé Samuel David of Shelton and her longtime companion George Bennett of Old Greenwich.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Stamford and was proud of the fact that she lived in the same residence her entire life. She was a bookkeeper at Independent Oil and Plotkin Lumber up until her retirement. She was a fan of the NY Mets watching almost every game. Ruth was an avid boater and loved to make clam chowder from the day’s catch. She also enjoyed working on Election Day at the polls into her 80’s.
Calling hours will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 1st at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home at 2900 Summer St. in Stamford. Parastas service to be held 6:00 p.m. that same day. Ruth will join her husband in eternity on what would have been their 65th wedding anniversary with funeral services at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church at 141 Den Road in Stamford at 11:00 a.m. on September 2. Internment to immediately follow at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.
