Everyone who knew Sandy knows she loved animals, children, Donald Duck, deer, seahorses, dolphins, hot air balloons, and the Grinch. Later in life, she loved creating diamond paintings of all of these subjects. Her artistic and decorative skills were the envy of all her neighbors, and her meatballs and sauce were legendary.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary Waring, who never left her side, as well as her daughters Danielle and Kimberly. She is also survived by her sister Charlene, as well as many nieces and nephews on both the east and west coast that she loved and wished she could have spent more time with.
Sandy will be greeted in heaven by her father Frank Cotrone, her brother Frankie, and her Aunt Jeanie- all of whom were beloved and considered to be her guardian angels. She was also preceded in death by her mother Anita Gaszo Controne.
Sandy worked at CVS and later on as a school crossing guard for the Stamford Public Schools/Police Department. The students passing by her post not only loved how she protected them, but loved her fun Halloween costumes and Winter Holiday spirit.
We ask that family and friends who remember and love her join us for a memorial service at Leo Gallagher’s Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905 on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 from 12-4pm.
