Thomas J. (Bud) Powell, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on October 20, 2018 at the age of 84, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Stamford, CT on March 30, 1934 to the late Thomas and Margaret Burke Powell.
Bud was a devoted husband to his late wife Pauline to whom he was married for 64 years. He lived most of his life in Stamford and had a versatile career as an auto-mechanic owning his own shop on Summer Street, to a Teamster and eventually as a personal driver. But his most treasured job was being a great father to his girls. Bud split his time during retirement between Trumbull and Naples, Florida where he loved to play golf with Pauline at The Glades. He truly encompassed his nickname “Buddy” because he was always there with a friendly wave, a kind word and a wise adage.
Bud is survived by his three loving daughters, Lisa Clements (husband Frank), Linda Modugno (husband Paul) and Patti Jones (husband David), and three grandchildren Jordan Clements, John Clements and Matthew Jones. He was predeceased by his sisters Margaret P. Robotti and Alice P. Maloney. The family would like to thank all of his caregivers, especially Barbara Godlewska, for her loyalty, dedication and kindness for which we will be eternally grateful.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday October 24th at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 25th at 11:00 am at The Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment is private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Stamford Hospital Foundation Bennett Cancer Center, 1351 Washington Blvd., Suite 202, Stamford, CT 06902.
