Viola Mary Burke – 94, a long-time resident of Stamford, died suddenly at her home in Milford on January 21, 2019. Viola was born and raised in Mechanicsburg, PA. She attended college and left to work for the U.S. State Department in the Belgian Congo where she lived for over ten years and met her future husband, Pierre. She also lived in Mexico, England and Spain before returning to the U.S. to raise a family. She was a person of faith and an active member of her church. Viola had a passion for quilting, and was a member of the Stamford Museum Quilters for many years. She had a soft spot for animals, both wild and domesticated.
Viola is survived by a daughter Patricia of Milford and two sons – Ronald of Stamford, Roger of Houston, his wife Jacqueline, and Jacqueline’s son Abraham Mouasher of Dallas. She is predeceased by her husband Pierre, a son-in-law Frank Morabito, a sister Marie Rupp, and a brother Wilbur Farence. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Viola’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
