He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947, he graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute with an Engineering degree. He worked for American Cyanamid for many years. He also served as Commissioner of Public Works for the city of Stamford and was very active in the Kiwanis Club.
He was a loving husband to his wife, Norma, who predeceased him in 2015. Survivors include his nieces and nephews.
