
Stamford native Ed Meehan passed away suddenly at Stamford Hospital May 4th at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Ann Crofton Meehan of Stamford, CT and four children: Mary Ann Meehan of Milford CT, Ward Meehan Jr. and his wife Lorraine Glinka Meehan of Ridgefield, CT, Kathleen Meehan of Bridgeport, CT, and Michael Meehan and his wife Sunela Ceric Meehan of New Milford, CT. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Thomas Conroy and Jennifer Merenda Conroy, Erin Conroy Seferi and Nicholas Seferi, Britt Conroy, Ward E. Meehan III, Melissa Meehan Stagnetta and Donnie Stagnetta, Jason Meehan, Tierney Meehan, Eileen Meehan, Hana Meehan, and 1 great grandchild: Henry Joseph Conroy. He was in the U.S. Navy as a member of the submarine service on the U.S.S. Ronquil and served in both World War II and the Korean War. He is a graduate of Stamford High School. He began plumbing as an employee of HELCO and went on to establish Ward E. Meehan Plumbing & Heating, and Meehan Plumbing & Heating Supply Co. formerly on Hope St. in Stamford. He was the son of the late Thomas Meehan and Sara Agnes McCoy Meehan of Stamford. He was pre-deceased by his 6 siblings Thomas (Chick) Meehan, James Meehan, George (Patsy) Meehan, Marie (Rie) Meehan Alling, Ethel Meehan McAuliffe, and Jeanne Meehan Naphan. He will be greatly missed by friends and family, and remembered by all for his kindness, laughter, and sense of humor. Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 7th at 12:00 PM in the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street Stamford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Camp Avenue Darien. Visiting Hours will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the time of Service. Online condolences may be made at www.leopgallagherstamford.com.
