Beatrice Champion

Beatrice M. Champion, formerly of Mount Holly, NC passed away at the age of 102 in Kings Mountain, North Carolina on Sunday June 18, 2023. Beatrice was born August 21, 1920 to the late Kate (Benfield) McConnell and Brevard McConnell in Lincoln County, NC. Beatrice worked for many years at Presbyterian (Novant) Hospital sterilizing all of the hospital’s medical instruments. She attended New Covenant Church and she participated in their quilting ministry. She loved her family. Beatrice will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, EV Champion, ten siblings and her daughters, Helen Linton and her spouse Ralph Linton, Juanita Johnson and her spouse Leon Johnson, Rachel Howington and her spouse Homer Howington and two great grandchildren: Trey Chavers and Michael Paul Potter.

Beatrice is survived by her grandchildren, Lorie Chavers and her spouse Jerry Chavers, Angie Hawkins, Kristy Ballard and her spouse Eric Ballard, Donna Brown and her spouse Ricky Brown, Sherry Hoffman, Richard Linton and spouse his Wilma Linton.

Her legacy includes her great-Grandchildren, Morgan Tickle and her spouse Colton Tickle, Brittany Ballard, Alyse Ballard, Jon Ballard, Joshua Brown and his spouse Taylor Brown, Leyna Brown, Derek Hoffman and his spouse Meaghan Hoffman, Jayson Hoffman and his spouse Heather Hoffman, Anthony Potter, Timothy Hawkins and his spouse Ashley Hawkins. She also leaves behind five Great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 am on Saturday June 24, 2023 at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley, NC. The service celebrating Beatrice’s life will follow at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home Chapel. Beatrice will be laid to rest next to her late husband, EV Champion. Burial is at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, Mount Holly, NC and the burial will immediately follow the celebration of life service. Deacon Bill Melton will officiate. Eric Ballard, Jon Ballard, Joshua Brown, Ricky Brown, Richard Linton and Jerry Chavers are her pallbearers.
