Edwin served on the USS Des Moines as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired as a master machinist at Conitex in Bessemer City.
He was a cherished member of his community and an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Stanley, North Carolina, for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Malone Sherill, as well as his sisters and his mother and father.
He is survived by his six daughters, Donna Sanchez, Patricia Wilkinson, Sheryl Davis, Tina Kasper, Kimberly Kasper, and Christina Kasper. He was a beloved Pawpaw to his ten grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
