George Ashley Carpenter, 77 passed away on August 7, 2018. He was born September 1, 1940 in Mecklenburg County to the late Charles and Lottie (Wilson) Carpenter. George’s passion in life was Lowesville Café which he owned and operated for 38 years. George also proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his two children, Gary Carpenter and Sandra Cook of Iron Station; brothers, David Carpenter of Mount Holly and Jimmy Carpenter of Shuffletown, sisters, Pat Suddreth of Iron Station, Sue Carpenter of Alexis, Diane Blackmon of SC and Ann Thompson of Rutherfordton; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carpenter, two brothers, Bobby and Ralph and sister, Lucille Stacy.
The family will receive friends with a reception from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Carothers Funeral Home in Stanley.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
