Gloria Dean Black Carrigan

A True Gift from God… A loving devoted wife, mother and grandmother are the first words shared by her husband and her children… Gloria ”Dean” Carrigan, age 73 passed away Wednesday January 18, 2017 at her residence in Belmont. Dean was a woman of God, a woman who put her family first. The love she gave and received by giving herself first.

Dean was the daughter of the late James Woodrow Black and Viola Pruitt Black. She was also preceded in death by two siblings: Evelyn McMurray and Howard Black.

Left behind to cherish Dean’s memories are her husband of 54 years, Robert “Bob” Carrigan; her daughter: Gwen Bumgardner of Gastonia, North Carolina; son: Bobby Carrigan of Belmont, North Carolina; three grandchildren: Christopher Bumgardner, Garrett Carrigan and Taylor Carrigan; three sisters: Joyce Sutton of Gastonia, North Carolina, Freida Davis of Lincolnton, North Carolina and Barbara Camp of Gastonia, North Carolina; sister in law: Glenda Black of Gastonia, North Carolina; brother in law: Fred McMurray; best friends: Lamarr and Patsy Hovis of Stanley, North Carolina along with an abundance of other close friends.

A Life Well Celebrated Ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Hillcrest Gardens, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy Mount Holly, North Carolina with Reverend Joe Lawing to deliver comforting words of comfort to Dean’s family and friends. Active pallbearers are Michael Carrigan, Chris Bumgardner, Todd Painter, Jeff Henry, Austin Galyan and Jason Sutton.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM~ 8:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Carothers Funeral Home 412 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina.

We live across the street in the messy house with the wild children. I will never forget the year she came running over to give my kids their halloween candy that she had saved just for them.
