James William Krueger, Jr. (Jim) of Mount Holly, North Carolina passed into the caring arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on August 19, 2025. He was 73 years old. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on December 25, 1951, to loving parents, James and Garnet Krueger.
Jim graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School and received an Electrical Engineering Degree from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He later received his Masters’ Degree from Syracuse University.
On August 19, 1978, he married his beloved wife of 47 years, Laura (nee Moss).
After receiving his Engineering Degree, Jim began working at General Electric in Syracuse, New York. He retired after a successful career in 2012 from Lockheed Martin in Goodyear, AZ. He was able to travel around the world assisting in the building of reliable radar systems. During his career, he was granted a patent in May 1995 for a Self-Monitoring/Calibrating Phased Array Radar.
Jim was a lifelong Lutheran and served as an active member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Liverpool, NY, Zion Lutheran Church, New Hartford, NY and Alleluia Lutheran Church, Phoenix, AZ, holding various positions on the church councils. He also was an active board member and President of the West Valley Lutheran Thrift Shop, a non-profit agency in Sun City, Arizona. Other volunteer positions included being a founding board member/treasurer of the Alleluia Better Chance Diaper Closet, Phoenix, AZ and a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity builds in Poland, Asheville, NC and Joplin, Missouri.
Jim was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Syracuse Orangemen and the basketball, football, baseball, soccer, lacrosse and volleyball teams on which his sons and grandchildren participated. He faithfully followed the PGA Golf Tournaments. He was often found in front of the TV on weekends watching the current golf tournament.
Jim went on many adventures in his work and with family. The trip he talked most about was a hiking trip in the Grand Canyon with his brother, David. It was an adventure he hoped would not happen but once it did, he had a great time, and it gave him many stories to share.
He enjoyed spending time with family whether on a family trip or relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. He was a loving and caring husband, father and Papa. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura, and three sons: James David (Kim), Jonathan (Caroline) and Christopher (TK); two brothers: Dean (Mary), David (Janice) and one sister Lynn Pelnar. Jim has three grandchildren he very much adored, Avery, Grayson and Rowen; mother- and father-in-law, Vel Moss and Scott Hopkins; two brothers-in-law, Richard Moss (Cindy) and Lonny Moss, two sisters-in-law, Leslie (Charles) Carson and Vanda (Mark) Mueller; and many nieces and nephews, all who loved his witty sense of humor.
Immense thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff of University City Hospital, Charlote, NC; Carolinas Continue Care Hospital, Pineville, NC, Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital, Belmont, NC and the Atrium Home Health Services, Lincolnton, NC. Your kindness and care helped Jim to come home for a time after a long illness before he went to his eternal home.
Jim will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He was a faithful Christian, a loving husband and a wonderful father, Papa (grandfather) and a good friend to many. “Well done good and faithful servant.”
