Patsy was born in Gaston County on August 27, 1933, to the late Horace and Lucy Abernathy. She graduated from Stanley High School and married the love of her life, Charles Richard Ballard, in 1951.
Throughout her life, Patsy worked several jobs, including as a school cafeteria worker and as a home health caregiver for the elderly. However, the role she cherished most was being a devoted wife and mother. She found joy in sewing and needlework, and she especially loved pink roses.
Patsy's faith and service to others were an important part of her life. She lovingly served in many capacities at Alexis Baptist Church, with one of her greatest joys being teaching the young girls' Sunday School class. Her kindness, faith, and caring spirit touched the lives of many.
Patsy leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her daughter, Robin Houser of Vale; her son, Tommy Ballard (Robin)of Mooresville NC; her grandchildren, Colby Brown (Tyler) and Kindell Elmore (Zeb); and her great-grandchildren, Zamuel, Zander, and Zaleigh. She is also survived by the family of Jack and Millie Parrott.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Richard Ballard; her sister, Laura Goodson; and her brother, Buddy Abernathy.
Patsy's life was one of love, faith, family, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many lives she touched along the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Carolina Caring Hospice in Patsy's honor.
