Ronda Lee Barnett

Ronda Lee (RL) Barnett, 79, died Monday, the 2nd of December, 2024 at Caromont Regional Hospital in Gastonia. He was born the 10th of October, 1945 in Sunberry, PA, middle child of seven of the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Barnett Sr. "RL", as he was affectionately known, moved to Stanley, NC in 1955 at the age of nine with his family.

He worked as a machinist for over 30 years at Dallas Machine Shop before retiring in 2008. He was a long time member of the Carolinas Chapter of the Antique Wireless Association (CC-AWA) where he was very active until 2023. He was also a long time volunteer for SERF, INC in Stanley helping people in the community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn E Barnett Sr and Stella S Barnett; and two brothers: Glenn E (Skip) Barnett, Jr and Steve Barnett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Revels Barnett; children: Donna Barnett of New London, NC and Jeffrey Barnett of Seagoville, TX; brother-in-law and wife, Michael and Sharon Revels; brother, Gene Hoagland of Port Orchard, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Natalie and Thurston Hicks; two sisters: Linda Griggs and Krista Barnett, all of Stanley; 14 nieces and nephews; over 20 great nieces and nephews; 16 great-great nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-great niece.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, the 15th of December, 2024 at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley, North Carolina with his celebration of life service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens in Mt. Holly. Pastor Jerry Morton will officiate and offer words of encouragement and hope to the family and friends of Ronda (RL). Stephen Brown of the CC-AWA will also be speaking.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the Kidney Foundation.
