PATRICK. I AM SO SORRY ABOUT SHIRLEY'S DEATH.I WANTED TO COME TO THE FUNERAL,BUT OUR CHILDREN COME IN FROM INDIANA AND WE HAD 8 VISITORS.A HOUSE FULL.GENTRY ANDI WOULD HAVE COME IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR THAT.I WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU .

Our dearest beloved,
Our hearts are broken since you took that early flight home to reunite with Pamela, Daddy and Bobby. Oh, what a rejoicing that will be! The heart broken tears trickle from our eyes that hold those precious, indelible memories: the smiles, the laughter, your unselfish giving and the pinto bean suppers at Mom's. Shirley was the first born of seven children. She had to step in and cook, clothe, bathe, see to it that we kids made it to school and put up with us tagging along everywhere she went. She began working at a very young age, selling newspapers on the streets of Mt.Holly. She worked as a waitress at the age of 14, worked in real estate, painted and cleaned houses and worked as a private investigator for Reliance Investigations,Inc. which she helped to found. Beware the 357 Magnum she carried in her purse and when she was on a case she used every tactic to catch her man or woman. From taking pictures with a camera through a small hole in her pocketbook, setting up surveillance for hours, chasing cars on all sorts of highways and setting up audio and video equipment. Shirley was a lady of many talents: she was past National President and secretary-treasurer of the U.S. Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association and was the president for the Gastonia Ladies Municipal Golf Association.  She played softball and bowled and out ran everyone in high school except for her coach and one other fellow student. She was a builder, painter, carpenter, roofer and could use all needed equipment as efficiently as most men. Shirley loved her church and church family. She paid her tithes without fail and gave at other times when the funds were needed. Shirley had traveled to every state including Hawaii and Alaska and also Canada. She experienced panning for gold and fishing for Halibut and Salmon in the Alaskian waters, metal detected with success on various areas of land, danced on the Don Ho Show winning first place in Hawaii and witnessed beautiful scenery all over the U.S. Yes, that was our beloved Shirley. She epitomized her role as wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. What we wouldn't do to see your smile, hear your laughter, feel your sweet warm kiss on our cheeks. Oh, but once again. May you rest in peace...til we meet again.

You were the best sister-in-law I ever had in my life, we got closer these last five or so years. I am still in shock that you no longer walk on this earth Shirley.  I will never forget you and will see you again when Jesus
returns! Which will be sooner than later!

I love you grandmother, I miss you so much and I think about you every day. Mom and I had an experience this morning where in an event like that we would have called you, and I am sure you were laughing at us while we attempting to do it on our own. I love you and miss you.

To all the family, I am in utter shock and so very sad. I think she is one of the sweetiest ladies I have known. It looks like she had a very happy and full life. A good christian that all of us will miss.But we shall all see her again! Such promises bring us hope and comfort! My deepest sympathy to each of you. God has a perfect plan for each of us . A poem for you: I'm glad God sent you to this Earth. To love and laugh with me a while. I shall miss your laugh and loving smile. Your voice to sooth when I was sad, or to scold me when I was bad. Of all the things that you could be, you were most a friend to me. The loss of you to me disdains. You are gone, your love remains. To all who knew your loving heart, we are sad as you depart.
