Sidney Ora Brandon Jr.

Sidney Ora Brandon, Jr. of Stanley passed away November 11, 2023. He was born in Buies Creek, NC. He was 90 years old. Sidney graduated from Mars Hill College where he played football and UNC Chapel Hill where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Navy as an Electrical Engineer repairing aircraft. Sidney was a member of the American Legion. He spent the majority of his career as the Southeast Regional manager for Kroger Foods. His hobbies were golfing, watching college football, and spending time at his Isle of Palms home.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents Vanda Craig Brandon and Sidney Ora Brandon, Sr.

He is survived by three sons, Sidney O. Brandon, III of Charleston, SC, Stanley E. Brandon of Cary, NC, S. Cobb Brandon of Gulf Shores, AL and their wives; seven grandchildren; two great-grand daughters, Lana E. Ray, his life partner of 16 years and his brother, Craig Brandon, PhD. of Clemson, SC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 PM at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 726 1st Ave. NW, Hickory, NC 28601. The Rev. Karla Woggan will officiate.
