He was born on September 5, 1952 in Gaston County to the late Jack and Helen Stroupe.
Tom enjoyed a life filled with the things he loved most. An avid outdoorsman, he especially loved fishing, his favorite pastime, as well as hunting and golfing. He also found great joy in gardening and was known for his remarkable green thumb. Throughout his professional career, Tom earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. He dedicated more than 30 years to Whirlpool Corporation, where he served as a Service Branch Manager with professionalism, integrity, and commitment.
Above all, Tom dearly loved his two sons. The loss of both sons far too early in life was a heartbreak he carried with him always, and he missed them deeply. Despite life's hardships, Tom remained strong, courageous, and resilient. He faced cancer with remarkable bravery and grace, never complaining and always putting others before himself. With his kind spirit, generous heart, and gentle nature, he was loved by everyone who knew him—especially children and dogs, who seemed naturally drawn to him. His warmth, strength, and compassion will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by sons, Travis Stroupe and Brian Stroupe.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Stroupe; grandchildren, Heather Stroupe, Samantha Stroupe, twins Matthew Stroupe and Madison Stroupe; brother, Mike Stroupe and wife Melissa; sister, Beth Shuford and husband Bill; and very special niece, Kim Hanks.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Carothers Funeral Home Stanley with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm.
