He was born on the 28th of March, 1942 in Charlotte, NC to the late Gordon Murphy and Donnie Austin Murphy. He was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School and served as a Supervisor with Duke Energy for more than twenty years before starting his own business, Murphy's Courier Service.
The Murphy family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, the 3rd of January, 2025 in the Stanley Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Pattie Murphy; son, Jeff Murphy and his wife, Kandy; grandson, Zach Murphy and his wife, Breanna and their children: Sayler and Silvy; granddaughter, Kristen Lathan and her husband, Paul and their children: Kash and Eli.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oxford Masonic Home for Children.
