Born with a warm heart and a strong spirit, Kenneth lived a full and passionate life, marked by deep love for his family and the simple joys that brought him happiness. A man of tradition and grit, Kenneth was a lifelong NASCAR enthusiast, and a proud fan of the legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. Sundays were a true day of rest spent watching racing and golf in his recliner.
Kenneth also found joy and serenity on the golf course. One of his proudest moments was achieving a hole-in-one on the 17th hole at Westport Golf Club — a 184-yard par 3 — a memory he loved to share, eyes lighting up with pride and excitement each time.
He is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Brenda Smith, 79, who stood by his side through every chapter of life. Together, they built a legacy of love, family, and strength. Kenneth was a proud father to
Darrin Smith, 59 (Darlene) and Farrah Massey, 48 (Shane).
Grandchildren; Chris (Shasta), Coty (Jenn), Chad (Cristal), Zach, Isaac (Anna), Maddie, Adam, Seth and Hannah.
Great Grandchildren; Aubrey, Raelyn and Easton, James, Hannah, Katie, Ellie and Cris. each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Kenneth’s stories, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever remembered. His love for the open track, the green fairways, and the warmth of his family will live on in those who knew him best.
A visitation will be held at Carothers Funeral Home Stanley located at 412 S Main St, Stanley, NC 28164 on Sunday, September 14,2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm. A committal service will immediately follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
