She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick McCarthy; parents, John and Nora Flynn; brothers, Tom and Joe Flynn; and twin sister, Noreen Mannion.
Katherine will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Bridget Finnerty of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her son, Patrick of Staten Island; daughter, Ann Struckman of Portsmouth, R.I., and husband Dana and children Katie, Conor and Colin; daughter, Eileen White of Burke, Va., and husband Nathan and daughter Addie; niece, Gail O'Connor of Westfield, N.J., and husband Dan and children Declan, Katie and Fiona; and nephew, Richard Hoch of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Katherine was born in Bunninadden, County Sligo, Ireland, and came to America at the age of 17. She worked for Emigrant Savings Bank in Manhattan until her marriage to Patrick in 1963. After her three children started school, she worked as a certified nursing assistant, lovingly caring for elderly patients at Clove Lakes Nursing Home. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament and a member of the St. Joseph's Guild. Katherine never met a stranger, she took the time to get to know everyone she met.
She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed Irish music, shops and fairs. Everyone who loved her will miss her boundless energy and caring spirit.
